Maria Eleanor David (born 14 March 1956, Lincolnshire, England) is an English actress. She has appeared in multiple films and television programmes including Pink Floyd The Wall directed by Alan Parker, Comfort and Joy directed by Bill Forsyth, Paradise Postponed and Mike Leigh’s Topsy-Turvy. In 1985, David starred as Sylvia Ashton-Warner in the biopic Sylvia; reviewing her performance, Janet Maslin of The New York Times commented: “Miss David bears a striking resemblance to the real woman and gives an intelligent, compassionate performance, limited only by the uncomplicated reverence with which the film makers regard their heroine.”
